Losing it with Jillian
“Losing it with Jillian” is a shrewd, masterstroke production that is positioned as an extension of “The Biggest Loser”. The show is produced by Reveille LLC in association with Empowered Media and will feature on NBC. The trainer behind the scenes at “The Biggest Loser”, Jillian Michaels is one of the Executive Producers. They would have us believe that this show is an answer to viewers’ comments they have received on “Biggest Loser” about the practicality of someone losing weight away from a studio format without the aid of specialized trainers. The show is an eight episode series that is scheduled to debut in the late summer of 2010 and shows Jillian visiting families across the country and staying with them for a whole week, and helping them make fitness and lifestyle choices.
Cashing in on the huge popularity of “The Biggest Loser” and clearly with a purpose of taking the message of fitness and health to a larger percentage of American families, Jillian Michaels as the face of the show, who will visit families across the nation with her diet, exercise and fitness program and helps families cope with the problems they are struggling with. Celebrity Chef Curtis Stone will also feature on the show. Stone will enhance Michaels’ efforts by re-organizing the family’s kitchen, getting rid of unhealthy foods and helping them understand nutrition by providing healthy recipes and tips and suggesting healthy ingredients.
The show is not without its dose of drama, as Michaels sometimes comes on the aggressive host, cajoling, coaxing and even threatening families and makes them toe her line.
It is hoped that just like “The Biggest Loser”, Jillian Michaels’ tough yet friendly approach to families will provide the inspiration for others watching the show to realize the importance of healthy living and make changes that will help them take charge of their lives. There’s no doubt that the fast changing lifestyles are the reason why millions of families are stuck with unhealthy lifestyle choices that they are unable to change for various reasons. The eight episode series will feature Jillian Michaels visiting eight families across America and making a transformation in their lives.
The challenge of the series is that the camera literally moves into these homes and shows them on television upfront to the whole country. They will be put on a challenging course with confrontations and choices that takes them out of their comfort zones and face reality. At the end of her one week stay with each family, Michaels gives them a scheduled plan structure with a set of goals that they must strictly put in place and follow. The final challenge on the show is when Michaels returns to the families after a few months to see how well they have coped with their new lifestyle, the confidence in their new looks that comes with achievement and to share their triumph in front of family and friends.
NBC expects the show to go high in viewer ratings as the precursor “The Biggest Loser” has already created the right platform for this show to air. Several viewers have taken Jillian’s fitness and health tips and followed her advice in their lives to achieve weight loss and tremendously improve their belief and confidence. The tremendous popularity that has been generated has created tremendous marketing potential for Jillian’s book Winning by Losing that has since become a fitness mantra with the triple approach to total health – self, science and sweat – a simple, hard hitting, and no-nonsense bit of stark truth.
As Executive Producer Ellen Rakieten sums it, “the idea of Jillian crisscrossing America to actually live with families in desperate need of a wake up call is something that everyone can identify with. It is the knock on the door that could save lives”.
