Lessons Learned from the Real Housewives
The first installation of Bravo’s hit series “The Real Housewives of…” started with the Orange County ladies. Originally, the show was designed to focus on the real life versions of the cast of O.C. and of Desperate Housewives. The show focused on well-to-do ladies living in mansions in California and what their leisurely lives entailed. Posh parties, scintillating soirees, and fantastic fashion shows have become the status quo of this show. Subsequent spin-offs have followed ladies in New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Washington D.C.
From watching the series, any discerning viewers can glean some enlightenment. Just because these ladies live in the lap of luxury, doesn’t mean that they are all happy. Lynn, a housewife from the O.C. underwent foreclosure proceedings on her home. Countess de Lesseps from New York went through a public divorce while on the show. Kim from Atlanta desired to be a singer, and though she released a single, she has been derided for her lack of vocal prowess.
The rich life doesn’t come worry-free either. Gretchen from Orange County went through an ordeal where her rich boyfriend was dying from cancer, though the money seemed to be her primary concern. Deshawn Snow, the wife of former Cleveland Cavalier Eric Snow, worried about the couple’s finances after her husband retired. The Manzos (Jacqueline, Dina, and Caroline) from New Jersey constantly battled rumors that their family was involved with the mafia.
One last lesson one can glean from the show is that you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Throughout the seasons, people who identify themselves as friends betray one another. Rumors fly, fights start, and tables get flipped on this sometimes explosive reality TV show. Watch the show to see how friends quickly turn into archenemies thanks to reality TV fame.
