Find Love Through A TV Show
So you’re lonely, but who isn’t right? Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places? Well, look no more! Simply turn on the TV and you can find a show which features someone in the same predicament as you. Even celebrities sometimes need help finding love. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next contestant on a reality show about love.
The Bachelor
The Bachelor is the show that started it all. The first reality show to depict a real life man bachelor looking for a bride. Women from all over the country were selected to complete. The basic premise of the show is that a man (or a woman on the Bachelorette) who has been looking for love stays in a gorgeous house with a gaggle of ladies to choose from. He gets to know the ladies and one-by-one, they are eliminated. The elimination ceremony involves the bachelor handing out a rose to each lady he choose to stay. Those he wishes to eliminate don’t receive a rose. By the time he gets down to only two ladies left, he is usually pretty close to both of them, but he must decide who he wants to be with. Only one couple has been married by being on The Bachelorette. Trista and Ryan Sutter met after she was chosen to star on the spin-off.
Rock of Love, Real Chance of Love, For the Love of Ray J, A Shot of Love
All of these shows follow a basic formula. A celebrity (or pair of celebrities as in Real Chance of Love) is put in a house with a bunch of women (or guys and women as in A Shot of Love) who compete for the celebrity’s love. A series of challenges allows some women to win group or one-on-one dates with the star (Brett Micheals for Rock of Love, Real and Chance for Real Chance of Love, Ray J, and Tila Tequila for A Shot of Love). Following the formula of the bachelor, each episode features an elimination ceremony in which the celebrity chooses who will go and who will stay by presenting some symbol to them. In Rock of Love, the symbol is a backstage pass. During eliminations for Real Chance of Love, the women were given horseshoe-shaped necklaces, which reflect the guys’ involvement with breeding. Ray J gave his ladies a glass of champagne, while Tila gave her keepers a shot of tequila.
If you want to find love, you can sign up for a reality show. Those who don’t want to participate can still watch. The shows have plenty of dramatic moments thanks to jealousy and drunkenness.
